Nick is justifiably happy with himself as last Friday he competed int he Otago Primary Schools Cross Country event. The Kaikorai Valley College course along with the high calibre of competitors make this event a real challenge. Nick came finished in the top ten of his race, coming sixth. Well done Nick!
We are the Year 6 Class at Outram School. Our teachers are Mrs Tansley and Mrs Hunter. Outram school is on the Taieri Plains about five minutes drive away from Dunedin Airport and half an hour away from Dunedin city itself.

Clarke Johnstone Visits
Clarke Johnstone visited us on our Monday assembly this week. Clarke, an old Outram pupil, represented New Zealand in equestrian events at the Rio Olympics. He fell just short of medals coming 4th and 6th but we think he did an amazing job. It was especially nice for Mrs Tansley to see Clarke as she used to teach him! Clarke didn't take up horse riding until he was twelve years old so it just goes to show we may not have found the thing that we are passionate about yet. We hope that Clarke can represent us again at the next Olympics.

Room 6'ers Lend a Helping Hand
Most of Room 6 were out competing in a netball tournament today, leaving just a few students behind. Lucky for Room 9 these students were keen to help out the juniors with some tricky craft work. Here is amazing Andrew helping with art work.
Brilliant Blake brings his skills to the table.
Excellent Evie expects high standards from her workers.
Respectful Rylan keeps his table smiling whilst they work.
Fabulous Fletcher is a regular Room 9 helper.
Last but not least wonderful Will works well with his wee group.

Fun with Fungi
We have been learning all kinds of weird and wonderful facts about fungi.
We have a lot of pictures to inspire us.
We are growing our own mycelium on a log.
Mrs Tansley found these beautiful fungi illustrations to inspire our art work.
We know all about the life cycle of mycelium.
When we started our inquiry on fungi we considered all the things that we knew about the topic and all the things that we wanted to find out.
Our art work is fantastic!

Writing Round Up
Today in Room 6 we were working on miniature Fact Booklets. Mrs Grace was teaching us so it was a chance for us show her some of the knowledge and facts we have gained from Mrs Tansley and Miss Reid.
Some of us made tiny Bridge booklets....
Some of us made tiny Fungi booklets...
and some of us made bullet points and pictures to help us with our upcoming speeches for speech night...
