Rylan can often be seen wandering around school singing and playing his guitar: looks like all that practice and natural talent paid off!

Bug Hunt

With the weather so beautiful today Room 6 and Room 7 took the opportunity to go bug hunting in the school grounds.

Next week we will be doing some writing about our bugs so watch this blog and we will publish some of those.

We found lots of spiders, beetles, slugs and slaters.

We made sure to put our bugs back where we found them.

Emily was pleased with her spider find and even gave it a name: Fang!!

Nick at the Otago Primary Schools Cross Country

Nick is justifiably happy with himself as last Friday he competed int he Otago Primary Schools Cross Country event.  The Kaikorai Valley College course along with the high calibre of competitors make this event a real challenge. Nick came finished in the top ten of his race, coming sixth. Well done Nick!

Nick along with fellow place getters Ollie (19th) and Gabby (3rd) being recognised and celebrated in Friday's assembly.

Clarke Johnstone Visits

Clarke Johnstone visited us on our Monday assembly this week. Clarke, an old Outram pupil, represented New Zealand in equestrian events at the Rio Olympics. He fell just short of medals coming 4th and 6th but we think he did an amazing job. It was especially nice for Mrs Tansley to see Clarke as she used to teach him! Clarke didn't take up horse riding until he was twelve years old so it just goes to show we may not have found the thing that we are passionate about yet. We hope that Clarke can represent us again at the next Olympics.
